ARE YOU A GREEN MEMBER?

In line with Government recommendations and policy we are adopting a proactive approach to reducing traffic congestion and we would like to ask our members for their help in this. We therefore ask you to think about using alternative ways of getting to the Club other than by car and help us reduce traffic on local roads:

Additional Bike Racks
We have in place 29 bike racks - cycling to the Club adds to your warm up or work out and offers a great way to reduce traffic congestion and burn extra calories! To encourage you to cycle to the club we can now order for you a variety of bags and paniers so that you can carry your clothes or equipment to the Club. We also stock a selection of cycle helmets and high visability clothing. For further details please enquire at the shop.

As Nature Intended
Of course walking, power walking or jogging are the ultimate way to get to the Club. An increasing number of members are choosing to get here this way which means they are already warmed up to begin exercising. Jogging in with a friend and working out with them is also a great way to stay motivated and clothes and equipment can be conveniently carried in a rucksack.

Take the Bus
If the Club is too far away to walk or run to and you still wish to help ease traffic, public transport is the best option - the 490 and 290 buses stop right outside the Club entrance.

Shared Car Parking Spaces
Those of you who travel from even further afield and using the car seems to be the only option can still help. Car sharing with a friend or colleague will lessen the number of vehicles on the road and entitle you to use one of our shared car parking spaces on arrival. These convenient spaces are provided for those members who make a conscious effort to reduce traffic.

We are working with Richmond Borough Council to help reduce traffic in the borough and we hope you will consider the above suggestions as every car journey reduced makes for a greener borough.
